La dott.ssa Cristina Bellarosa si è laureata in Biologia presso l’Università degli Studi di Trieste nel 2001. Nella stessa Università, nel 2005 ha ottenuto il titolo di Dottore di Ricerca in Medicina Biomolecolare. Nel 2009 ha ottenuto la specializzazione in Patologia Clinica presso l’Università degli Studi di Udine. Dal 2008 la dott.ssa Bellarosa è parte dello staff permanente della Fondazione Italiana Fegato.
Since 2003, her research has focused on the molecular and cellular mechanisms involved in bilirubin neurotoxicity, later expanding to include the protective aspects of mild hyperbilirubinemia in metabolic diseases. Starting in 2022, with the aim of developing new models for the study of liver diseases, she has concentrated on the differentiation of induced hepatocytes obtained from pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) derived from urine samples, as well as on the generation of organoids from adult murine hepatocytes. She serves as a tutor for PhD students, undergraduate and graduate students, and visiting researchers.
