Silvia Gazzin

Senior scientist

Degree in Biology, PhD in Molecular Medicine. In 2006 visiting researcher at INSERM, where she studies blood-brain barriers. She has been at FIF since 2004, where, since 2011 she has covered the role of Senior Scientist dealing mainly with two lines of research that investigate the opposite role (toxic - neonatal vs. protective jaundice - Gilbert) of bilirubin on the brain. Thanks to the collaboration with doctors involved in these diseases, the research is conducted with a translational approach, i.e. by the patient, through experimental models and molecular-biology techniques (genes: RTqPCR, ChiPSeq, next generation sequencing, high-throughput sequencing ; bioinformatics; proteins: alpha-LISA, ELISA, Western blot; FACS; immunofluorescence; histology, etc.) available in FIF, looking for new evidence with a useful relapse (improvement of diagnostic and / or therapy skills) at a clinical level .
