FIF and Coop Alleanza 3.0, a food awareness project for children

With the aim of enabling children to learn – through play – to make informed and healthy decisions about their food choices, a food awareness project is being launched by the Italian Liver Foundation NPO together with Coop Alleanza 3.0. During a first meeting with third-grade students at the Gaspardis Primary School in Trieste, discussions were held about different nutrients and their roles in our bodies, with the primary goal of creating awareness about the impact of unhealthy food choices. "A good diet not only means losing weight but also maintaining a healthy body free from diseases," emphasizes Natalia Rosso, senior scientist at the Italian Liver Foundation. Obesity is not just a dietary disorder associated with a lack of willpower, as it is often perceived. Instead, it is the result of a combination of factors (psychological, metabolic, etc.) that converge into this "phenotype." Stigmatizing obesity – Natalia Rosso concludes – "does not contribute to inducing change and, in most cases, worsens the situation. Therefore, all the activities proposed aim to emphasize the effect of nutrition on health (not just body weight)." Learning through play to make informed and healthy decisions, with the primary goal of creating awareness about the impact of unhealthy food choices.
